Appalachian Maple

About Appalachian Maple.

Grain - Appalachian Maple is a close grained species so the grain is less noticeable than species such as Oak or Hickory.  The tighter grain gives the wood a smoother appearance.

Color - Appalachian Maple is very pale yellow or even gray/white.  The dark brown grain adds some contrast to the wood and character Appalachian Maple can have dark brown heartwood streaks in some boards.

Character marks - Maple has dark black character marks such as knots or bark. Additionally, it can also have dark color variation from the heart of the tree. An Appalachian Maple floor can be ordered in a higher grade to minimize knots in the wood and ensure a lighter floor.
