About Cherry Flooring

Grain - Cherry is a tight grained species so the grain is less noticeable than species such as Oak or Hickory.  The tighter grain gives the wood a smoother appearance.

Color - Cherry is known for its red tone but it also has some color variation leaning towards greens and yellows.  The heartwood of a cherry log is deep red with little color variation, while the sapwood is more yellow and prone to a beautiful array of color variations.  Orders can be customized to maximize or minimize sapwood.

Character marks - Cherry is not known for extensive character marks such as knots or bark, however a cherry floor can be ordered in a higher grade to minimize knots in the wood.
