Red Birch
About Red Birch.
Grain - Red Birch is a close grained species so the tighter grain gives the wood a smoother appearance. Red Birch is known for its characteristic figured grain the seems to ripple across the board. Its less unique grain is very regular and distinct.
Color - Red Birch is a light reddish brown with a slight gray tint. The sapwood is a light yellow which, depending on the finish, will contrast well with the darker heart wood. The darker figured grain can make the wood a deep red at the heart. Orders can be customized to maximize or minimize sapwood.
Character marks - Red Birch is not known for extensive character marks such as knots or bark, however a Red Birch floor can be ordered in a higher grade to minimize knots in the wood.
