Every awesome piece of custom furniture has a backstory. For this killer desk, it all started at a recent local home show. A client stopped by The Hardwood Mall's booth, spotted these figured white oak slabs, and immediately knew they were "the ones." He handed us his vision, and we got to work.
Here’s a look at how we turned those raw, show-stopping slabs into a one-of-a-kind workspace.

If you're going to build a waterfall desk, you've got to get the cascading grain right. We miter-folded the white oak slab so the wild, swirling grain of the burls wraps right over the edge and down the leg.

Live edge slabs—especially the heavily burled ones—come with their fair share of natural cracks, checks, and voids. Instead of trying to hide them, we leaned into it! We filled all those organic gaps with a super durable epoxy resin. It gives the desk a perfectly smooth, heavy-duty writing surface while letting all that rustic character shine through.

The customer requested a custom hidden drawer tucked right under the top. We built the drawer box out of solid quartersawn white oak.
